Mon General Hospital
Compounding Pharmacy
Morgantown, WV
The renovations for the compounding pharmacy at Mon Health Medical Center were required to bring the facility up to the compounding standards set forth by the United States Pharmacopeia. The challenge of this project was how to keep the pharmacy operational while the upgraded rooms were constructed. Several scenarios were studied such as offsite compounding, temporary facilities, and building new compounding rooms while the existing rooms were kept operational. The decision was made to build the new compounding rooms on the opposite side of the pharmacy while the existing rooms were kept in use. The new clean rooms meet the criteria set forth in the USP 797 and USP 800 guidelines. The project also includes a new air handling unit that will serve the compounding rooms so that the temperature and humidity guidelines
can be met.
